Range Rules
- Eye and ear protection are mandatory while on the range.
- If you observe any unsafe situation alert a Range Safety Officer immediately.
- Never cross the firing line for any reason. Alert a Range Safety Officer to help retrieve a fallen item.
- All firearms must be holstered and/or cased while entering, exiting, or on the premises, unless you are in the indoor Rochester shooting range stall.
- If you do not know how to operate your firearm or have a malfunction of any kind, please alert a Range Safety Officer immediately to help you. Keep your firearm on the bench and pointed down range during this time.
- No black powder, incendiary, or tracer rounds are allowed to be fired at our facility.
- Only slugs are allowed to be fired through a shotgun.
- If you hear the command “CEASE FIRE” from any staff member or shooter, please place your firearm on the bench pointed down range and move to the back to await further instructions.
- Shooters may collect their own brass behind the firing line.
- If you bring more than one firearm, we recommend that you uncase only one at a time. This will reduce the chance of loading the wrong ammunition and will allow you the space to shoot comfortably without interference.
- Commands issued by a Range Safety Officer are final and to be obeyed.
- To return rental inventory please notify the indoor Rochester shooting range RSO.
- No steel jacketed or steel core ammunition
- No aluminum cased ammunition
- No drawing from a holster; no holster drills
- No kneeling or prone shooting allowed
- Do not pass firearms between shooters
- All firearms must have sights on the gun to be able to shoot them in the range
- Persons can only shoot one firearm at a time
- Do not change firing lanes without authorization from Range Officer or Range Staff
- Do not shoot at other lanes targets
- No drawing from a holster; no holster drills
- No kneeling or prone shooting allowed
- Do not pass firearms between shooters
- All firearms must have sights on the gun to be able to shoot them in the range
- Persons can only shoot one firearm at a time
- Do not change firing lanes without authorization from Range Officer or Range Staff
Core Safety
- Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
- Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction
- Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
- Always keep your firearm on safe until you intend to fire.
Range Etiquette
- Never use alcohol or drugs before coming to Heartland Gun Club & Range.
- Permit to carry or permit to purchase required for all firearms except shotguns. We reserve the right to refuse service to or remove individuals from the facility who are suspected of being under the influence.
- Always keep your children at arm’s length
- Do not bring food, drinks, or vaping and tobacco products on to the range.
- Only case or uncase your firearms on the bench inside your stall.
- Do not participate in unsafe activities. Foul language, horseplay, or any other activities deemed unsafe by our staff will not be permitted at our indoor shooting range in Rochester, MN.
- If you must move a firearm from one stall to another Alert a Range Safety Officer for help or ensure it is in its case or bag before moving.
- Wash your hands before leaving our facility to remove lead and other shooting contaminants.
